The Northeast CUSO Member Business Services Team
The Northeast management team has significant experience running small business departments for community financial institutions. They have successfully held key sales, risk management, and operational positions which gave them perspective on the opportunities and challenges for Northeast’s partners. They have a sound perspective on the needs of small business, and are committed to helping their partners participate in this opportunity.
Scott Anderson
Scott is the CEO of Northeast. Scott was previously Vice President for Credit Union Business Partners (“CUBP”), the largest business lending CUSO in the U.S, where he co-founded the Small Business Services group with Rick Slater and managed sales and marketing, risk management, participations, and training. Before joining CUBP Scott was a consultant to community banks and credit unions in the small business services area, following an eighteen-year banking career. Scott started at Chase where he worked in loan workout, small business banking, and project finance. He subsequently worked in leveraged finance at Citibank before joining Banknorth, a regional multi-bank holding company where he started and ran asset-based finance. While at Banknorth, Scott served as a corporate sales trainer and a credit committee member of a Banknorth subsidiary.
Rick Slater
Rick is the company's Chief Operating Officer. Prior to joining Northeast Rick was Vice-President of Small Business Services for Credit Union Business Partners (“CUBP”), where he co-founded the Small Business Services group and managed loan underwriting, SBA, document preparation, and loan servicing. Before joining CUBP Rick ran a bank consulting business, following more than a decade managing commercial operations for community banks. Rick was Chief Credit Officer of Primary Bank, Loan Review Manager for Vermont National Bank, and manager of small business/SBA lending for Chittenden Corporation, a $4 billion multi-bank holding company. Rick was a corporate trainer at each of the banks where he worked. Rick holds undergraduate and graduate degrees in management.
Cassie Polhemus
Cassie is Risk Manager of Northeast. Cassie joined Northeast in 2006 to develop its real estate programs, and is presently responsible for monitoring/mitigating key credit and operational risks. Cassie was previously Vice President at Banknorth Group, Inc., a regional bank holding company, where she was responsible for sales, underwriting, and servicing of commercial portfolios. Cassie also worked in commercial banking for Fleet Bank and New England Savings Bank, where she managed its credit department. Cassie is a graduate of Williams College, and has extensive training and experience in commercial risk management.
